I leaned from my 18 years at the Drug Enforcement Administration that there are some really bad people in this world and that if I am ever confronted by one of them, the police will not be there to help me. As a senior citizen, I am not confident in my ability to physically overpower a criminal attacker. Therefore, I carry every day. If I should ever have to use my defensive firearm, no matter how obvious the justification, there will inevitably be interaction with law enforcement and possibly with a civil suit as well. I joined USCCA to cover the cost of having competent legal representation. I also value the USCCA magazine for its informative articles on the concealed carry lifestyle.
