Since joining the USCCA I have learned to be more aware of my surroundings and how to look for key indicators that a situation is turning ugly and how to remove my family and myself from the situation, as well as how to get out of a situation once it has escalated to a bad situation.

After becoming a member, I originally became a NRA instructor. At which point NRA dropped the ILP, so I became a USCCA certified instructor. I haven't done the old style NRA class since. I realized that the NRA (which I am a Life Time Benefactor member) has since copied the USCCA power point and modified it to their liking, however I don't see the need to spend 3 days and another $400 to get that certification since I already have the original to instruct from.

So far it has been very educational. I have asked questions and received answers quickly.

Thanks for the peace of mind. I enjoy all the articles. Being 71 and having had several joint operations and arthritis I am very limited in movement. I can still shoot decently but getting older has had its limitations and problems. Dealing with the joint problems is one thing but I never considered cataracts. First you have to deal with slowly deteriorating vision than after surgery your vision is much better but it has changed. I remember going to the range a few weeks after the surgery I couldn’t shoot well at all. It took several sessions to get back where it should be.
