I had a friend that owned a gun shop a mile from me. His daughter worked there too. It is on the edge of a field next to Highway 63 in north Missouri. I used to sit down there with him from 10 am to 4pm because he was worried about someone coming off the high way and robbing him. I did this for three years. I had a bill come due and needed to sell a mattress I had to cover it, his daughter called me and said she wanted it but had to talk to her hubby Mark. I waited for her call and in the mean time had four others wanting to buy the mattress. Finally I decided to go to the shop and see what was going on. it turned out that she expected me to just give her the mattress (Iwas only asking $65) I told her I couldn`t do that and the conversation turned into an argument. All of a sudden her dad Ron came from behind the counter, yelled for me to get the hell out and started pushing me toward the door. I have several physical problems and resisted his pushing. Finally he shoved me out the door and my right knee popped. I thought I was going to fall so I grabbed my Sig. 9mm in the holster and pulled it off my belt so I wouldn`t fall on it. He and his daughter both pulled their guns and were standing in the door way. I didn`t fall so I walked to my car and went home. I was sitting eating my lunch when all of a sudden someone is pounding on my door like they were trying to knock it down. I went to the door and there were three county sheriff deputies on my porch, they asked me to step outside which I did. As soon as I was passed my door they grabbed me put hand cuffs on me and walked to the police car. I asked them to please close the door to my house, the deputy asked where my gun was and I told him on the table inside. He came in my house got the gun and spare mag closed the door and we left. Mind you he had no warrant never read me my rights or anything. We got to the sheriffs office and they started booking me in. There was a bondsman there so I paid him and he got me free before I was ever put in a cell. No one ever read me my rights. I imediately hired a lawyer and he and I went through three years of court before he was finally able to get the felony charges dropped (assault with a deadly weapon) but they still charged me with misdemeanor assault and I had to do probation. Way better than the five years in prison they were trying to give me. The insurance company paid every cent of the attorney bill, paid for the bondsman and all other fees. USCCA is a lifesaver !
