In order to promote preparedness and support veterans during Military Appreciation Month, the USCCA is launching the #Pockets4Vets challenge, an Instagram fundraiser for DAV (Disabled American Veterans).
Just show us what you keep in your pocket that makes you a better protector and include the hashtag #Pockets4Vets with your photo or video. We’ll reach into our pocket too and donate $1 to DAV on your behalf.
Here’s How to Participate:
- Show us your gear! Upload a photo or video of a “pocket dump” (a purse counts too) or your everyday carry gear to your Instagram account with the hashtag #Pockets4Vets.
- You don’t need to be a USCCA Member or even carry to participate. We want to see all the things that help you be ready and keep safety within reach.
- Think outside the pocket! Show us what you keep close at hand in case of an emergency while at home, at work or in your car.
- Challenge others to share their pictures and videos! The more prepared protectors we have in our communities, the safer we all will be.
That’s it! For every post uploaded with the correct hashtag from May 18 to 29, 2020, the USCCA will donate $1 (up to $25,000) to help support U.S. veterans.
What’s in Your Pocket?

Tim Kennedy’s #Pockets4Vets pocket dump.
Whether it’s someone like our partner and Army Special Forces Operator Tim Kennedy (who shared the image to the right) or your neighbor, you might be surprised by what some people carry just in case.
Take a Pic and Talk
Doing this pocket dump is a great way to contribute to a great cause and start a conversation about safety with your family and friends. Invite them to take our challenge to help veterans, then talk about how a few tools and some training can help them be prepared for the unexpected.
Whether it’s an accident or a sudden act of violence, bad things can happen. Everyone should have a plan — and something on hand — to protect what matters most.
