When an early morning argument turned violent and her fiancé began to beat her, an Arlington woman feared for her life. That’s when she took up a pistol kept for defense and shot her fiancé. The couple lived with their three children and the fiancé’s nephew, and the man had a history of abusing the woman. Citing the past domestic abuse, investigating police declined to charge her.
Tennessee Wife Defends Against Estranged Husband
A Cordova man was shot during the course of an argument with his estranged wife. The wife became fearful when the husband, who was visiting her home despite a restraining order against him, started arguing with her. She took up a pistol as a defensive measure. The wife fired on the husband when he lunged at her. The shot injured him non-critically. Police are investigating the incident.

Alabama Man Fights Off Three Armed Home Attackers
Three armed men fired multiple rapid shots through the front door of a Choctaw County rural home, then kicked in the door and entered the residence. Unhurt by the fusillade through the door, the homeowner took up his own pistol and fired on the intruders, killing one and putting the other two to flight. Authorities are seeking the other two assailants. The homeowner is not being charged.

Georgia Homeowner Puts Home Invader in Critical Condition
An Atlanta man heard sounds of a possible break-in at his home late at night and took up a shotgun when he went to investigate. Seeing a stranger in his home, he shot the intruder, ending the crime. Responding police found the home invader in critical condition and had him transported to a local hospital. On his release, the home invader will face burglary charges. The homeowner will not be charged.

Pennsylvania Couple Defend Against Rifle-Wielding Robber
A Philadelphia pastor and his wife were returning home from a concert late one evening when a stranger pointed a rifle at them and demanded money. When the husband turned to get his wallet to give to the robber, the robber swung the rifle like a baseball bat and struck him in the neck. That’s when the wife drew her legally carried pistol and shot the robber, driving him away and ending the incident. The robber was arrested later when he sought medical treatment for a bullet wound to the leg. Investigating police believe the shooting of the robber was justified.

Georgia Man Shoots Stalker
Returning to their Macon home one afternoon, a couple was confronted by an armed man who turned out to be the woman’s ex-boyfriend. When the stalker advanced on them in a threatening manner, the male drew his legally carried pistol in self-defense. In the ensuing exchange of gunfire, the stalker was mortally wounded.

Taking a pistol with him to investigate, he found someone removing a window air-conditioning unit to gain access to the house. The homeowner fired on the invader, mortally wounding him. Responding police said the homeowner would not face charges in the incident.

A pair of teenage robbers entered an elderly St. Louis man’s detached garage just before 4 one afternoon. When one of the assailants shouted demands and then threatened the homeowner with a gun to his head, the 73-year-old senior drew his own firearm, shooting and killing both suspects. Police say the homeowner acted in self-defense.

Video from the home’s extensive security system helped police conclude that the homeowner acted in defense of her home and family. She will not be charged.

Pennsylvania Store Clerk Thwarts Robbery
A Harrisburg convenience store clerk was accosted by an armed and masked man demanding money at about 9 p.m. one day. Despite the robber pointing a cocked revolver at him, the clerk took up a loaded shotgun kept for defense and fired on the robber, hitting him and putting him to flight. No one else was injured.

A Walmart employee was outside the Sunrise store where he worked early one morning when he was accosted by an armed man demanding money.
