Pot Shots: Texas Crabber Defeats Armed Robber
A Port Arthur man and his female companion were crabbing on Pleasure Island when a man with a rifle approached them and demanded money and their property. During the interaction, the male crabber was able to retrieve a handgun from his nearby truck and fire on the robber. The robber died in the ensuing exchange of gunfire, and the crabber’s female companion sustained a minor wound.

Florida Homeowner Kills Two Home Invaders, Wounds Another
A Wesley Chapel man was at home playing video games around 1 a.m. when he heard glass break. Taking a pistol with him to investigate, he found several armed and masked men walking toward him in a narrow hallway. The homeowner fired on the intruders, killing two and wounding a third, who fled. The wounded intruder was apprehended and held for police by a neighboring armed citizen. Police say the homeowner was exercising his right to self-defense.
Alabama Woman Defends Self in Domestic Violence Encounter
When a Madison County woman was accosted and attacked by her ex-fiance, she took up a gun to defend herself and fatally shot her attacker. The man had a restraining order in force against him and had a history of domestic violence and violating victim protection orders. The case will be reviewed by the local prosecutor.
North Dakota Man Thwarts Strangler’s Attack
A 23-year-old Casselton man found himself confronted in his own driveway by a much larger 50-year-old man. When the younger man stepped out of his vehicle, the older man grabbed him and placed him in a stranglehold. Fearing for his life, he drew a pistol and fired on his assailant, killing him. Though the victim was initially arrested for murder, the prosecuting attorney reviewed the case and declined prosecution after seeing that the younger man met the requirements for self-defense.

Florida Man Defends Against Mob at Beach
A Pensacola CFP holder was attempting to leave a beach when a mob surrounded him and threatened to beat him. Fearing for his life, the man drew his pistol and demanded the mob back away from his car and let him leave, which they did. Responding police called this a “stand your ground” event, and no one was charged in the incident.

South Carolina Man Stops Armed Home Invader
Fearing for her and her children’s safety from an ex-partner, a Buffalo woman invited a friend to stay with the family for protection. That foresight proved invaluable when her ex-partner kicked open the front door one evening and brandished a firearm. The armed friend then engaged the intruder, killing him in an exchange of gunfire. Authorities determined that the defender had been invited into the home, had a right to be there and acted in self-defense. No one else was injured in the incident.
Texas Homeowner Shoots Drunk Home Invader
A Flushear man was home with his family when a drunk man kicked in the front door and demanded that the homeowner shoot him. Fearing for his and his family’s safety, the homeowner shot the intruder in the leg with a .410 shotgun round from a Taurus Judge revolver and ordered him to stop. When the intruder refused to comply, the homeowner shot him again. The second round ended the incident. Responding police transported the intruder to a local hospital for treatment of his non-life-threatening wounds. The homeowner and his family were unharmed in the encounter.
Nevada Father Kills Son Who Was Attacking Mother
When a son assaulted his mother at knifepoint and threatened to stab her, a Mesquite father felt he had no choice but to shoot his son to protect his wife. Responding police approved of the father’s actions, saying that had the son survived the incident, he would have been charged with assault with a deadly weapon.

Ohio Business Owners Protect Bakery From Violent Protesters
When protesters began to vandalize businesses in downtown Cleveland following the death of George Floyd, the father-and-son owners of a local bakery took up shotguns and stayed in place overnight to discourage damage to their property. The bakery was undamaged.
Washington Man Defends Against Knife Attack
A party at a Bellevue apartment turned deadly when a domestic dispute broke out between a man and a woman attending the function. A 41-year-old man stabbed a 21-year-old woman and a 24-year-old male guest. Despite several knife wounds to the neck, the 24-year-old man drew a pistol and shot the attacker, killing him. The Bellevue police chief said he would be “looking at if the party violated the governor’s reopening orders of Phase 2.”

Georgia Men Save Elderly Neighbor
Two Bartow County men heard screams for help from a neighboring house. Taking up pistols, they ran to assist. They found their 86-year-old neighbor being beaten with a metal pipe by an unknown assailant. When they tried to break up the attack, the attacker punched one man in the jaw and began struggling with the other rescuer for his pistol. Both neighbors then shot the attacker, one in the stomach and the other in the leg. The attacker is expected to survive, though he will face charges of burglary, aggravated assault and criminal trespass. The victim survived the attack. His condition was unknown at the time the press covered the story.
