Nebraska House-Sitter Defends Against Armed Intruder

A young Omaha couple house-sitting for friends awoke one night to sounds of an intruder trying to kick in the bedroom door. Taking up a gun he had brought for protection, the man fired on the intruder, hitting him once and putting him to flight. The intruder was apprehended later by responding police. It turns out he was the former boyfriend of the house’s owner, returning to look for that woman. Authorities determined the shooting to be justified self-defense.

Ohio CCW Holder Foils Dollar Store Robbery

A Linndale man was shopping in a Dollar Store when an armed man entered and announced a robbery. Fearing for his life, the CCW holder drew his pistol and engaged the robber, hitting him once and wounding him, which put an end to the robbery. No word at press time whether the armed citizen will face charges.

Louisiana Good Samaritan Stops Restraining Order Violator

Hearing the commotion of a couple arguing next door, a Gonzales man, who was armed with a concealed handgun, went to investigate. As he approached the couple, the man in the argument pointed a handgun at him. The neighbor then drew his own handgun and shot one time, killing the assailant. An investigation revealed the dead man was the subject of an active restraining order, which he had violated by contacting his estranged wife. Responding police will not be filing charges against the neighbor, calling his actions justified.

Michigan Nonagenarian Shoots Robber

A 91-year-old Eastpointe man was going to a drugstore when a man approached him in a threatening manner. When the accoster pointed what looked like a pistol at the elderly man, the would-be victim drew his own legally carried pistol and fired, hitting the attacker in the neck and ending the crime. Responding police reported the 91-year-old appeared to be justified in his actions. They transported the robber to a nearby hospital for treatment of his wounds and referred the shooting to the local prosecutor’s office for a final determination of possible charges for the defending victim.

Connecticut Man Stops Armed Home Invader

A Bridgeport man awoke about 5 a.m. to go to work and found an intruder in his house. Taking up a pistol from the home, he held the invader at gunpoint for responding police. The intruder offered no resistance to the homeowner, and no one was injured in the incident.

Missouri Man Disarms Home Invader, Shoots Him

Hearing noises outside his home, a Grandview man went to investigate. He came upon a stranger who had entered his home armed with a handgun. Angered by the invasion, the homeowner attacked the intruder and struggled to get the gun away from him. The pistol discharged during the struggle, hitting the intruder in the abdomen and ending the incident. Responding police arrested the intruder outside the house and transported him to a local hospital for treatment of his wound. The homeowner will not face charges.

Washington State 15-Year-Old Ends Burglary With Shotgun

Hearing noises in his Coos County home, a 15-year-old grabbed a shotgun when he went to investigate. Finding an unknown man rummaging through the house, the youth, fearing for his life, fired a single shot at the intruder, hitting him in the leg and ending the incident. County prosecutors declined charges against the youth, saying he acted in self-defense.

Wounded Michigan CCW Holder Returns Fire, Ends Robbery

A Benton Harbor man was robbed at gunpoint by two armed men at about 4 p.m. one day. In the course of the robbery, the victim was shot through the cheek, at which point he drew his own pistol, shot one of the robbers in the face and put both to flight. Both robbers were later arrested.

A Jackson man found a teen attempting to burglarize a luxury sedan parked at his business. Attempting to stop the crime, the business owner realized the teen had a handgun and struggled with him for control of it. In the ensuing struggle, the teen was shot several times in the chest and later died of his wounds. The business owner was unhurt in the incident and was not charged by police.

Texas Homeowner Defends Against Home Invader

Hearing someone attempt to force entry into his San Antonio home via the front door, a homeowner in his late 70s beseeched the intruder to stop what he was doing. When the burglar refused to desist, and hearing the front door handle break off, the homeowner fired a single round through the door to stop the illegal entry, killing the man. Police commended the homeowner for his deliberate actions in protecting his family and home.
