I was followed by a driver in a parking lot who was angry that I had to suddenly stop while he drove too closely behind me. He proceeded to follow me around the parking lot. When I had no other place to turn, I got out of my car, opened the driver side door (he was in front of me). He appeared very upset and got out of his car walking toward me. I put my hand up and commanded him to stop proceeding toward me and tell me what his issue was. We discussed and mutually de-escalated our tempers. He thought I purposely butted in front of hime and set my brakes to encourage a rear end collision. We agreed we both over reacted and left in peace. What USCCA taught me was first try to escape and avoid. When that option was not available, I used the STOP command. My firearm was ready but it did not need to be drawn. Situational assessment and following safety protocols were invaluable lessons I have learned as a USCCA member
