I have owned firearms my entire life. I started carrying daily after leaving the military. Crime was increasing then and has been ever since. I feel that the best “first responder” is the armed, trained, citizen as police are reactive rather than proactive due to the limits placed on them. I joined the USCCA to have the programs and legal services. In today’s lawsuit-happy society skill legal representation is priceless.

I don’t have any particular moment. I have owned guns since I was a child, and I’ve carried a gun all of my adult life. I’m a retired deputy sheriff, and carrying a gun is just part of who I am.

Always been a gun guy, but a HS friend, Rob Nipolitano in the Tampa office encouraged me to join. Prior to that I took Handgun safety and a few different tactical courses and am now considering becoming a NRA pistol instructor.

Real simple. Our country is out of control and there are 10-15 million illegals who crossed our border and predominantly unvetted. I need to be able to protect my family.

I bought a gun because I travel alone a lot. And I’m at home alone most the time.

I bought a gun for self defense. I joined USCCA for the benefits and information in the articles in the magazine.

I have owned guns all of my life but now I feel that the probability of using it in self defense is greater and the likelihood of being sued if I do use it is greater

While I live in a relatively safe state of Maine. The mass shooting in Lewiston last October had me uncomfortable in my own home. There was a shooter out there that was not located for a few days and I was in my home with my family, unable to protect them should someone try and gain access. The feeling of uselessness was profound. That was when I decided to take a self-defense course, arm myself, obtain a concealed carry permit and protect myself by joining USCCA. As the world changes I refuse to become an unwitting victim.
