I bought a gun to protect myself and my family against harm. I started USCCA membership to protect myself in court to insure I receive a fair and just trial if I am charged.

I was at a Penn State game - it was last year's "White Out" against Iowa. As we were leaving the game, a dominant PSU victory, my fiancee and I were accosted by three men in a traffic filled parking lot that was at a standstill. They had rear-ended us and were drunk and belligerent. 9-1-1 wouldn't respond, despite me calling them 3x. Besides threatening us with violence, one of the men actually threatened to sexually assault my fiancee. I had my EDC locked in the vault of my Bronco's console since you can't bring it into games. My fiancee was able to open it so my firearm was accessible. Thank God it didn't come to that. I had to physically remove one of the assailants from my vehicle and struck him with my fist to incapacitate him - I had removed him once already, and this was after his vile threat. The other two stayed back. Police finally arrived on scene and arrested all three of them. Still, a less trained, less educated person might have shot all three earlier as the events unfolded. I realized how unprepared I was still, despite the best outcome.

I served four years in United States, Marine Corps. And 31 years in law-enforcement in Southern California. That’s all the awakening I needed to know and carry firearms for self-defense. Having been involved in on duty shooting situations, I know how important it is to have competent representation by an attorney, as well as a financial policy combined with a personal umbrella policy. With the current state of affairs in the law enforcement community It’s more important than ever to be able to protect yourself and others. I’m a senior citizen now and realize I can’t fight a young thug anymore. My firearms give me the ability and confidence to do what I need to do if confronted. My USCCA membership gives me and my wife peace of mind in case we ever get involved in a violent situation.

I have always been around guns growing up. I decided to get my uscca membership because of the way people are acting. This is not like when I grew up. I'm afraid for my kids and grandkids.

I've owned guns my entire adult life. I joined USCCA because of the great insurance coverage and it was recommended by friends.

The world has changed. The big event that registered for me the need to begin to carry was the movie theater shooting in Colorado in 2012. My wife and I are big movie people and the thought of not being able to defend ourselves was scary. My wife and I made a conscious decision to get training and carry in our daily lives. During our last CCW renewal we found USCCA and their insurance program. We never really considered the “after” the shooting part and what happens. We have worked long and hard to build a great life and it gives peace of mind to know if we had to defend ourselves lawsuits would not ruin what we have spent our entire lives building. Defending yourself should not destroy your life. USCCA is a must have membership for anyone carrying a weapon.

I was so happy to find out there there was easily digestible training and education available for me as I began my gun journey. I got my CCW but didn't feel confident in carrying or using a firearm. With the perks of the membership, I've grown exponentially and hope to one day be an instructor myself
